 Reservoir Characterization

The correct application of reservoir modelling and analysis techniques is critical to understanding past, current and future reservoir performance. 3D-GEO has the expertise to assist in all phases of this work, from geophysical mapping, geological modelling of facies distributions and reservoir quality, petrophysical and sedimentological analysis, construction of reservoir models, pressure transient analysis and probabilistic determination of reserves and production profiles for economic risk analysis.

Petrography & Diagenesis

Petrographical descriptions and analysis can define the critical rock properties and flow characterizations of reservoirs. Integrated with well logs, sedimentological, geological, petrophysical and production data we can afford producing representatives maps of the reservoir architecture. Both siliciclastic and carbonatic rocks can be examined in details allowing a better understanding of our most important reservoirs. Provenance, diagenetical modelling, formation damage, fractures characterizations, reservoir quality assesment, startigraphical suddivisions, understanding of the minipermeater response and more can be correctly assesed through petrographical analysis.

 

Petrophysical Evaluations

We perform well-log analysis and correlations and integrate those interpretations with well-test, geophysics and geology data.Core-log-test integration will help in better prospect definition and a better understanding of reservoir properties and conditions and Porduction Mechanisms.

 

Fractures Characterization

Improving recovery from fractured reservoirs is an increasingly important focus for many oil companies. The recovery from reservoirs where fractures dominate permeability is often much less than it should be in contrast with matrix dominated permeability reservoirs. This is because of the misunderstanding of the dual porosity and permeability interaction within a fractured system. Special emphasis should be given to fractures characterization (When existing), since they might alter the original porosity and then the permeabilities. Integration of strike measurements from Image-Logs or Oriented cores with fractures characterizations of parameters (such as aperture, density, spacing …) help feeding simulators and horizontal well proyect design.

 

2D/3D Seismic Interpretation

Integration between well-Log data and seismic data is more and more becoming a routine task. Specially with the advances in seismic techniques. Egal can perform studies including seismic attributes analysis, structural framework interpretation, Stratigraphic Framework interpretation and integration with Well- Log and core data.

Using either paper sections or work stations we can interpret and map all your existing seismic data. We will make recommendations as to reprocessing or special processing. We will also make recommendations as to the need for shooting additional seismic to fully define your field's limits and potential. 

All available well logs can be integrated with the seismic interpretation to produce depth maps. Through the use of modeling we can use seismic attributes to predict reservoir characteristics. 


Delineation of Reservoir Geometry

The delineation of the geometry of a field's reservoirs is key to efficient development. We can map your reservoirs. We will produce net and gross thickness, porosity, iso-hydrocarbon, and a variety of other maps to help define your reservoirs.   Using techniques, such as the interpretation of depositional environments, we can predict the boundaries of  reservoirs in areas of sparse data. 

Working closely with reservoir engineers, we can map reservoir characteristics, relate them to the geology, and produce maps that will predict reservoir performance throughout the field.

We offer to perform, to participate or to support Reservoir Simulation Studies. Highly experienced people in working with commercial simulators can perform reservoir simulation studies to design reservoir exploitation schemes. Also, we can provide you our expertise to support your younger engineers to conduct a variety of simulations studies (black oil, compositional or thermal). Because of our experience, we are also able to quickly understand and run your own simulators, in case you prefer to conduct the study with your own tools.
