Sirius_Litho

is intended for use in Geosciences workflow, allowing the building of stratigraphic columns and sedmientological sheets. It gives users the ability to construct a sedimetological-stratigraphical log with their interpretations in an integrated manner and an ease of use as ever seen.

Sirius_Litho is one of the few Borehole Logging packages available and is designed to be used in the lab while examining subsurface core. It can also be used for logging of outcrop data or most other kinds of lithologic data. The program allows the direct collection of descriptive geological data in a fast, standardized manner, and translates the data into a finished strip log that is suitable for the publication in reports or any other written media. The data can also be exported in a simple format to be read by other databases.

The raw data are saved to, and retrieved from, disk and may be redrafted and displayed at any time using different display options. The geologist or technician is therefore relieved of the need to record notes or rough strip logs that require tedious and time-consuming final drafting into a finished display log.

Sirius_Litho uses two main windows for the collection and display of data; the Data Entry Grid and the Strip Log windows:

  • The Data Entry Grid window is used to graphically record the descriptive data. It has a number of different "Track Data types" and therefore it changes its appearance somewhat depending on the type of data that is being recorded. The different track data types are selected from the "toolbar" item in the menu bar.

  • The Strip Log window, is a scrolling window that displays the drafted strip log. Data can be entered interactively from the Strip Log window.

The latest version of the program has the following enhancements:

  • All descriptive items recorded as "icons" (Physical Structures, Lithologic Accessories, Ichnofossils, Fossils etc.) can be entered as point data.

  • Several data items can be recorded:

    • Diagenesis

    • Fractures

    • Pore Types

    • Hydrocarbon Indicators

    • Rock Color (descriptive terms based on GSA Rock-Color Chart)

    • Facies & Interpretive remarks

    • Clay Percent

  • Facies and Interpretive remarks can be recorded under a hierarchy of:
Facies, Facies Association, Depositional Environment and Depositional Complex.
These are plotted on the strip log in vertical columns.

  • Greatly expanded menus of descriptive "icon" items:

    • 300 for each of Physical Structures and Fossils

    • 150 for each of Lithologic accessories and Ichnofossils (all fully customisable)

  • Expanded menu of lithologies with 4 "palettes" for each of siliciclastics and carbonates for a total of 128 lithologies (all fully customisable).

  • External numeric data (X-Y data) CAN be imported for plotting as a curve on the strip log. Such data may be, for instance, gamma ray readings or porosity analysis. Many curves can be plotted in the single track, with several different options.

  • Header remarks are unlimited in length.

  • Enhanced strip log format with more esthetic division lines and rotated text. Separate column for descriptive "icon" items.

  • DataBase (access)

  • Projects management

  • Formation Tops

  • Curve manipulation (Slice, Merge)

  • Simple Curve Depth Shifting

  • Drifting (BaseLine) correction

  • Calibration Curve

  • Copy/paste of curves within the same document or to another document

  • Create new document

  • Curve AreaFill

  • Curve Stratigraphic Shading

  • Header Design

  • Header Editor

  • Lithology pattern editor

  • Lithology and Symbol Catalog

  • DipMeters Logs

  • Percentage Logs

  • Mud Logs

  • Image Track

  • Lithology Track

  • Comment Track

  • Go to Specified Depth

  • Tabular Data Grid (Curves, Lithologies, Comments, Formation Tops)

  • Full Screen display

  • Undo - Redo

  • Curve Editing

  • Interactive Mouse in display (Comments, lithologies, Symbols, Formation Tops)

  • Customizable interface (multi documents and files view, task pane, DragDrop)

Exceptional displays and layout
